PEAK Trip

We got to go on the PEAK family trip this past weekend. OMGosh it was so much fun! I love spending time with my family; we always stay up way late and play all kinds of games!

As Andy and I were driving to Grandmas house we saw this guy, I could not stop laughing at his racing gloves that he had on… LOL

We got to Grandmas and got the cars packed, when everyone got there (Marie and Kenn, Steven and his family and Andy and I) we all went to Grandma and Grandpa Greats grave site. I have not been there in almost 3 years:

We also put flowers on Aunt Marjorie, and Joe’s grave sites:

I thought that these froggies were so cute:

When we got to the resort we pulled out the camping chairs and hung out in the living room and did what we all do best (LOL) talk!

We talked for hours and also played games until WAY late Friday night. We got to play Phase 10 Twist. I have never played it before and I am now hooked! Andy and I will buy that game. Then Saturday morning Andy and I went fishing. It was a lot of fun hanging out relaxing looking at the beautiful view:

After fishing we went back to the resort and got in our swim suits and went to the pool with my uncle, aunt and their kids. We were only at the pool for about 20ish min when they closed the pool because of thunder. We found my other Aunt and Uncle and stat and talked to them. My Uncles and cousins played Soccer and Horse Shoes:

Andy and I got to hang out with my youngest cousin Jace, he loved playing with Andy. They made up riddles, and played all kinds of games. I love watching Andy play with kids, I know he is going to be a great dad when we have kids!

Wolf Creek Trip 073

We got back to the room and played games again until about midnight! Then Andy and I went up to the bed room where Kenn and Marie were. We all stayed up and chatted and hung out even later:

Sunday we got up and went to church, then came back and took a nap then play Wii. It was fun watching Uncle Steven, Andy, Gray, Kenn and Jace playing Wii. I even played it bit… I did a boxing challenge and boxing lesson. I lost to Gray…(yep he’s 9)

What a day

OMGosh, what a day today has already been…  I have some updates to my family …

  • My step mom had surgery on April 3ed; she had a lesion in her mouth. She had to have it removed, it was on her tongue. Everything went pretty well. My dad took her home so that she could rest.

About 2-3 hours later my dad had to take her to the ER because she had some bleeding and pain. The dr. and nurses were extremely worried because her tongue had swollen up extremely bad. They admitted her in to the hospital or observation over night.

The results came back about the biopsy and they found that it was cancer. They will have to do surgery again. It will be on the 24th. We are hoping that they will be able to get it all out this time and she will be okay.

  • My mom called me about 6:45am today… the first thing she said to me was “get your sister on the phone” I questioned her and she just told me to hurry… (The last time she did that is when we found out that my aunt had gone missing). Marie did not answer so I just talked to my mom.

She informed me that my Aunt Anita had been found. She was found in California yesterday.  Miles was arrested after a short foot pursuit. Anita was then arrested without problems in a motel in Vallejo.

Anita will be in California for up to 45 days, then she will go back to North Carolina. Anita has been able to talk to my Grandpa and also to her husband. As expected she is scared.

  • My mothers Father-In-Law is going to be having surgery today. He is going to have his left foot removed due to problems. I do not know all of the details. Please keep him in your prayers….
  • My last bit of news…. Andy was laid off yesterday. All 10 of the people that were in his training class back in February we all let go. They did not give him much info or details. So we are back to looking for a new job. If anyone hears of one PLEASE LET US KNOW!

Thank you to everyone that has prayed for my family and thank you to everyone that has put our names on the Temple Pray roles. When I get some more updates on each family member I will let you all know.

It is all gone!!!

OMGosh It has taken me for ever to get this all taken care of…

On October 24th I started posting about this darn “Sty” that I had on my eye.  I did everything that I could to help it go away. When I finaly could not stand it any more and in the end of December I went to the  eye DR. he told me that I would need to go to my family DR if it was not gone with in 2 weeks. He sent me home with some meds. and some treatments to do at home (all of them I had been doing for almost 2 months).

In the end of January I went to my family Dr. He looked at it and said that I needed to see a “Eye Lid Speshalist” and have it removed. So I called the number he gave me and set up an appointment. They were not able to get me in until March 2 at 8am.

When I got to the appointment the Dr. said that it was not a “Sty” it was “Chalazion” (A chalazion is a lump in the eyelid. Chalazia (plural) may look like styes, but they are usually larger.)

The mornin gof March 2 this is what my eye looked like…

I dont want to go in to detail on how the surgary went, but it was okay… I did passout when it was all over but my sister Marie (she  is small) was able to stop me from falling on the floor… THANKS MARIE

NMHP

I received an E-mail from my sister today, PLEASE HELP HER AND THE PETS OUT!!!

Hi Everyone,

I just found out that you can support No More Homeless Pets anytime you use your Albertson’s preferred card. How cool is that? It won’t take away anything that you earn, and it will help out the animals with out costing you any time or money.

Since I volunteer with NMHP, I am all for this awesome way to help. It’s easy and saves lives.

All you have to do is link your Albertson’s preferred card to NMHP. Here’s how you do it:

  1. Find the number on your Albertson’s card. It’s the number just under the barcode. (Most cards are carried on your keychain, some are in the wallet.)
  2. Go to http://www.albertsonscp.com/
  3. Click on Enter and Register Your Preferred Card
  4. Enter all the numbers on your card, including the little one before the barcode
  5. Enter the organization code for NMHP, which is 49000122794
  6. Click Add

It took me about one minute to do mine. If you would like help, I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for everyone that does this!

Sincerely,
(Removed for privacy)

Pet Toxins

Article is from AOL-Healthy Living Pet Toxins Posted: 2009-02-11 10:09:01 By Jennifer Fields

Chocolate, fruit and nuts may sound like tasty delights to you, but these foods can be downright deadly to our four-legged friends. In 2008, the ASPCA handled 140,000 animal poison related emergencies. It’s often pet owners who unwittingly poison their pets by giving them foods and drinks they can’t tolerate. To help you protect your furry friends, we tapped Fiona Fisher, D.V.M, veterinary expert at JustAnswer.com, who practices in Ontario, for her roundup of common household foods and items that pose a threat to your beloved pets. Avoid these common toxins to keep your dogs and cats live long, healthy lives.

Grapes and Raisins
Healthy for you? Yes. Healthy for pets? No. In dogs and cats, grapes can cause kidney failure. “We’re not exactly sure why grapes pose a health hazard to pets,” says Fisher, but experts suspect it has something to do with a chemical in the fruit’s skin. Raisins are even more dangerous because they contain a concentrated supply of toxins. Keep this snack out of the reach of your pets.

Bread Dough
“I see this one a lot when people make bread, leave it to rise, and come back to find their dog has helped himself to a serving,” Fisher says. What’s the harm? The dog’s body heat will cause the dough to expand quickly resulting in severe abdominal pain and bloating. In some cases, death can occur if enough dough is eaten.

Chewing Gum
A dog might be attracted to the sweet-smelling gum that your kids are chewing or that’s tucked away in your bag. But the artificial sweetener, xylitol, in many types of gum and breath mints, can be deadly to pets. The sweetener can cause a low-blood sugar crisis in your pet. In fact, just one pack of gum can kill a dog, warns Fisher.

Macadamia Nuts
Careful where you keep that bowl of mixed nuts. If they’re on a low table that your dog can reach, your pup might get into trouble. Ingesting these nuts can cause tremors, weakness, unsteadiness, depression, a rapid heart rate, and a dangerous rise in body temperature that can lead to other complications. Though macadamia nut toxicity is very scary and dangerous, most dogs recover within a few days, says Fisher.

Nicotine
It may seem unlikely that a dog would eat cigarettes, but those nosy, little creatures will gobble them without a second thought. Nicotine is highly toxic so it doesn’t take much to cause a health crisis for your pet, including seizures, coma and death.

Chocolate
Who doesn’t find chocolate irresistible? But when it comes to dogs, chocolate is one deadly treat. Caffeine-like stimulants in chocolate known as methylxanthines can produce vomiting, diarrhea, excessive thirst and urination, hyperactivity, abnormal heart rhythm, tremors, seizures and even death, cautions Fisher.

Alcohol
“This type of poisoning happens a lot after people throw a party and their dog or cat gets into a glass alcohol sitting around or that’s spilled on the floor. Sometimes, children will think it’s funny to give a dog some beer,” Fisher says. And while animals may experience some of the same wobbliness and weakness that humans do after drinking, they are much more sensitive to alcohol than humans and can quickly be in a life-threatening situation, she says. Alcohol ingestion can lead to seizures, heart arythmia, vomiting, coma and death.

Pain Relievers
According to Veterinary Pet Insurance (VPI), the number one insurance claim by far for poisonings in 2007 was owner-induced. In most cases, the problems were caused by pet owners giving their pets drugs intended for human use. “Sometimes when the vet’s office is closed and a pet is in pain, people will administer over-the-counter pain relievers like iburprofen or acetaminophen to their dogs,” Fisher says. Never give your pets these types of drugs, warns Fisher. One tablet of acetaminophen can kill a cat, she says.

Tea
Ever had your cat poke its head into your cup of tea? It’s not just annoying, it can be downright dangerous depending on the type of tea you’re drinking. Caffeine in your tea is toxic to both cats and dogs. Depending on how much is consumed and the size of your pet, ingesting it can lead to vomiting, diarrhea, hyperactivity, seizures, coma and even death.

Onions
You’d probably never consider giving your dog a piece of an onion, but if you toss her a piece of steak or a bit of stir fry cooked with onions, you’re putting your dog in danger. Onions are toxic to dogs and cats whether they’re raw or cooked. When ingested, onions can cause hemolytic anemia, a condition that destroys the red blood cells in the bloodstream. A dog with onion poisoning may become lethargic and have difficulty breathing. Generally, a large amount of onions would need to be consumed to pose a serious threat to your dog, but cats are highly sensitive to onion toxicity.

A message from my Great and Amazing Grandma

Thank you so much for sending this to me, it has really helped me to see that I need to just keep going, keep my head up and keep trying to get through each day.

A woman answered a knock at the door.  It was the minister.  She invited him in and they sat down.  The minister had bad news for her.  Her husband and son had just been killed in an auto accident.

The woman excused herself and left the room.  In a few minutes she came back with cups of tea for them both.  She gave him a cup of tea, sat down, and picked up her tea cup.  The minister said, “how can you be so calm when you have heard such awful news?”  She said, “my mother told me what to do if the worst thing in the world that you can imagine happens.  My mother said — You do whatever you would be doing if it had not happened.  When you visit we always have tea together.”

I love you Alaska Sue! You and Grandpa Joe have the best thoughts all the time!
